Introduction Task

A - My best creative piece (Poseidon and Icarus)

This was one of the pieces I did for my HSC Visual Arts Body of Work. It depicts the final section of the story of Icarus, where he has fallen from the sky and ended in the ocean for his final rest. Here, Poseidon, the Greek God of the Sea holds the fallen Icarus moments before he passes on. The hands of the three fates playfully hold his mortality like a fragile piece of string.

B - Reims Cathedral
Reims Cathedral in France is one of the most striking examples of Gothic architecture. The original cathedral was damaged by a fire in 1210. The cathedral now stands larger than its original predecessor. The cost of taxation to pay for the new Cathedral led to a revolt and consequently suspended construction for three years.

C - Godafoss Waterfall Iceland
An original photo from my family trip to Iceland. Godafoss was said to be the place where Christianity became the religion of the country around 999 or 1000CE. The lawgiver þorgeir ljósvetningagoði threw statues of the old pagan gods into this waterfall as a gesture of fealty towards their new religion.
